McLaren P1 Specs – My XP1 Experience

McLaren P1 Specs – My XP1 Experience

As I was approaching McLaren Greenwich in Connecticut, where the McLaren XP1 was being displayed, I was in complete awe.  The XP1 is the prototype of the McLaren P1.  To put it mildly, the McLaren P1 specs are jaw dropping.

As I entered the dealership, you could almost hear a pin drop. I guess being in the presence of this machinery had everyone speechless. Inching closer to the XP1, car 001 (“the prototype”), I felt a few of my motor skills escaping me or possibly, it may have been the lack of air going to my brain from not being able to breathe near it.

The 2014 McLaren P1, is priced at a hefty $1.15M, F1-Style Tech, and Limited to 375 in the world.  They have all been claimed. The front of the car looks at you with a welcoming smile and as the car turns to the back, she looks ready to tear you a new one… The details and specs that McLaren carefully placed were quite impressive from the exterior, but what’s more impressive is what is under the hood.

The engine and electric motor will deliver the full 903 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque when working together; 3.8-liter eight-cylinder producing 727 hp and 531 lb-ft on its own, and is revised to team in unison with the electric portion of the drivetrain. New turbos and plumbings are fitted to deal with the P1’s higher operating requirements and temperatures; maximum turbo blow measures about 35 psi. The dual-clutch gearbox features additional cooling beyond that of the unit found in the 12C operated manually via paddles.

McLaren has partnered up with Akebono Brakes. They have built stronger carbon ceramic materials for their brakes with silicon carbide infused for ridiculous braking power with a mirrored finish. It also has heat resistant qualities.

” …can also be driven solely in electric mode, during which it delivers a range of 11km (6.8 miles) on the NEDC cycle and emissions are reduced to zero.” To read more go to http://cars.mclaren.com/featured-articles/mclaren-50-new-2.html

Signature Car Collection is truly in love with what McLaren has completed! We don’t anticipate a P1 on our fleet anytime soon but we will hopefully see the McLaren 12C sooner than later.
